Tonight's The Night
Remember these--from my backyard?
Tonight they're turning into jelly!
No time for a post tonight. See you tomorrow with jelly pictures!
Hi Tom, I will taste-test it tonight to see whether it's worth sharing or not....
Hi Jayne, It smelled good as it was simmering on the stove....hope it tastes as good.
Hi Ruth, Since you told me a while back about googling recipes, that's how I found this one. The grape jelly recipes in my books were for Concord grapes and these wild ones in my backyard are so much smaller (with a pretty big seed inside). If it turns out, I will definitely post the link.
Are you taking pictures of what you did? Jelly! Sheesh! I can barely get jam done. I think I would maim a member of my family if I tried jelly. They are always darting in and out underfoot.
Hi Trixie, No kids here and the dogs and cat weren't really interested in these grapes. However, I'm somewhat accident prone myself, so I'll count it as a success if I can manage to get all this dark purple juice into the jars without spilling any on the ivory countertop or the white linoleum.
How did your jelly turn out? I can't believe you had all those grapes, amazing. I could almost smell them cooking, from here. They have a different flavor then Concord Grapes. Enjoy!!!! MOM
Hi Mom, Donna, and Cathy, I'm late tonight, but check my post about the grape jelly. I'm quite pleased with the results. Can't wait to try it on some toast tomorrow morning!
Thanks for taking the time to comment. Even though I don't always get a chance to respond right away, please know that I (and many others!) enjoy reading them.
Can you send a jar my way? Hmm
ReplyDeleteYummmmmy!
ReplyDeleteI have never made jelly because I am too lazy to strain the pulp. Are these your wild grapes? There are plenty of them here. Hope you post the recipe.
