Oh No, SNOW!!

This blog post is dedicated to all my southern friends and relations--wish you were here! :-)

Here's one my frozen-solid backyard birdbaths covered with our overnight trace accumulation of snow. Poor birdies don't know what to do!

And adding insult to injury, it's COLD too!! Glad I got that last 2 buckets of apples picked yesterday afternoon when it was sunny and still in the 40's.
Hopefully October will still have a few nice days for us......

Ughhh!! It's too early for snow! The temp is dropping here, but thank goodness it's still in the 50s (probably not for long, though)!

This is truly disgusting. I got my apples in too though.

Gosh, Ruthie, you might as well be living up here near the frozen tundra like us. I think we had more snow cover this morning but you had the lower temperature. (Congratulation, you win.)

You beat us Ruthie. We haven't had a flake yet. :)

Dang! It was COLD this morning.
It's clouding over here now so in the shade the snow is staying. Grrr...

Brrrrrrrrr that thermometer is telling us what is coming our way. Here this a.m. it was 42 and I thought that was fairly cool. I love it when it is like this though. It got up to 55 today and the sun is shining. I am not complaining one bit. I hope you all thaw out and have some warmer days before winter sets in.

I hope it warms up a bit and you get more outside time... our temps took a crashing dip, fifty degrees difference in highs over a five day period ending with frosts Monday AM, but have warmed a bit... next, 'flooding rains' are predicted, along with high winds, for Tuesday! I wanted a nice, long, colorful fall first.

Yes it was cool this morning, our low temp was 23, but we didn't have any flakes, I was almost disappointed. I dug out one of the hats you made me, the purple one and my gloves to go get the mail. The few things we had outside were brought in and I plugged in the bird bath heater and the kitty water dish.

Brrrr It's just too early for snow. I am not ready for winter. Give me sunny warm southern Arizona.

Oh my Ruthie! It was up to 84 here yesterday! It seems so early for those low temps, even up your way.

just remember--an early cold snap does NOT mean we are not experiencing global climate change.
Keep reminding yourself of that.
Actually, I am so much a cold weather fan, you can send both your temps and snow to central PA.

I am SHOCKED, I tell you. I can't believe it. I heard of snow in Utah or Idaho but not for YOU!!!!

On Saturday it was 90 down this way. Today, 60.

Is it going to be a long winter, or what.

Hi Kelly,
A little snow is OK, but I'm sure not ready for the cold temps yet!

I agree, Troutbirder.

Hi Mama Pea,
This was one contest I don't think I'm very happy to win. :-(

Oh Dave, I'm sure by the end of "official" winter, you'll have us beat with snow cover again!

I agree Lynne. Good thing I got my long johns out again last week--they felt pretty darn good on Saturday.

Oh Lisa, it's just too cold. Now I have all sorts of drooping perennials to cut back, but am still waiting for almost all of the leaves to fall off the trees.

Hi Birdsong,
I hope you live in a high spot! I'm not sure how many colorful leaves we'll have either now that it froze so early.

Hi Mom,
I plugged in my heated birdbath too--the goldfinches were really happy!

Hi Gaelyn,
I'm not ready for winter in October either--please go out and enjoy some warm sunshine for me too, won't you?

Hi Jayne,
I'm glad you're enjoying those warm temps and I hope this cold weather doesn't dip down your way!

Hi Donna,
Snow and cold on the way!!

Hi Mary,
I was shocked to hear you're still having 90's too! You're having hair problems with heat and humidity and I'm having issues with "hat" hair. We just can't win, can we?
