Knitting Mission Accomplished!

This afternoon, I finished my last sock and hat for the Afghans for Afghans 2010 Youth Campaign. Here's my final tally: 3 hats, 4 pairs of socks, and 4 pairs of mittens. I got everything washed and right now they're all hanging on the drying rack with a fan blowing on them so they'll be dry enough to pack up and ship tomorrow (since they need to arrive in San Francisco by March 1st).

My reward for finishing this project is that I get to start a new project for the weekend -- this cool Winter Olympics hat will be for me! If you want to try one knitting one too, here's the pattern link.

Congrats on finishing your project Ruthie, and thank you for helping out the folks in need.

Can't wait to see your new hat. It'll always remind me of the two moose Dee saw in the Bog!

Wow what a collection of warm things for the Afghan people, they certainly don't have much. This sure will help keep them warm.

Yay, you made it! Glad I found you:) I do something similar, I knit hats for the needy in Northern regions. I haven't come to knit mittens and socks yet for others (did them this winter for the first time for myself to try it out)
But it's a good idea, to keep also hands and feet warm! Good for you!

Thanks Lisa.

Thanks Lynne. The hat will always remind me of the two of us watching the 2010 Winter Olympics opening ceremonies at the EconoLodge in Duluth. :-)

Thanks Mom. I know these items will be put to good use.

Thanks Gaelyn. I used up a few balls of yarn, but still ended up stashing quite a bit back into the cupboard.

Thanks Jeanette and welcome to my blog! I know there's always a need for warm knitted things for people less fortunate than me. I'm going to try and keep on knitting a few donation items each month so when the need arises next fall and winter, I'll have plenty of stuff done already and I won't have to another month of marathon knitting.

Hi Jayne,
I think if I ship the package today by Priority Mail, it should get there by Monday. It will probably take them a while to sort through all the other packages they'll be receiving too.

Hey Ruthie, Are you using similar colors in your hat?

You bet Priscilla! More yarn from my stash: Galway for the Dark Navy and Off White and believe it or not, I found an old skein of Germantown in Christmas Red. They haven't made Germantown for years, have they? I know some of this yarn in my cupboard has been there for at least 20 years! Time to use it up!
I will try to post another picture of my progress by the end of the weekend. I'm to Row 15 already on the chart -- time to graft the CO stitches to the hat and then on to the moose!
