I Am Cured!

My computer is up and running again thanks to Shane Lindberg of Bright-Eyed Computer right here in Rochester.

I called yesterday morning when I got home from work and made an appointment for a technician to come out to my house (yes, that's right -- I didn't have to unhook everything and lug the whole tower back into town). A reasonable estimate was quoted over the phone and he arrived shortly after 2:30. I found out after he got here that Shane was the business owner and he normally doesn't do service calls, but lucky for me he likes doing virus removal! Shane was courteous, efficient and very knowledgable -- answered all my dopey questions and gave me some good recommendations to keep this from happening again.

I was so happy to get my computer back with no lost files and for way less than $100! Fortunately for Shane, he also answered "yes" to my "do you like rhubarb?" question and I sent him back to work with a plate full of freshly baked rhubarb bars and coffee cake.

So for any of my readers in the Rochester, MN area......if you're having computer problems, please consider giving Bright-Eyed Computer a call. I think you'll be very pleased with their service.

Welcome back with no virus. Nice to find someone reliable, low cost and that will come to your house.

Welcome back, Ruthie! I'll bet Shane was pickled tink to leave your house with those fresh, homemade goodies. What a nice gesture to give him the plateful.

And, yes, it is so refreshing to find people in the service industry who know how to give prompt, courteous, intelligent, service and not charge an arm and a leg for it. Three cheers to Shane and three cheers to you for being back up and going!

So glad you (er, your computer) are cured.
Now, to the important info--rhubarb? Rhubarb? I love rhubarb--my step-mother used to grow it and would give me some every summer. I would just cook it down, throw in some sugar and a bit of tapioca, and hmm hmm -- eat it all myself. Mind, I am not being selfish--I am the only one that likes it. Make that, loves it.

Thanks Gaelyn. I was pretty happy too -- it's good to be back blogging and e-mailing from home again!

Hi Mama Pea,
Shane was a really nice guy -- even Sophie liked him! (and she's generally pretty shy around people she doesn't know).
On the back of his business card, it says "Low Cost Home and Office Calls, with Fast, Friendly Service" It's really nice to find a business that still offers these important services.

Hi Donna,
You snuck in there while I was composing my other reply! Yes, I'm happy to be cured too and lucky it wasn't terminal!
I love rhubarb too, but Mr. Johnson doesn't, so when I cook up the treats, I try to share them instead of eating the whole pan myself! After I took the treats to my co-workers this morning, I found out one of the guys has a big rhubarb patch in his yard and is willing to bring in an endless supply if I will continue to bake up treats -- sounds like a good deal, don't you think? :-)

Thanks again Shane for fixing up my computer and I'm glad you enjoyed the treats!

Hi Dana,
I know exactly what you mean! The first rhubarb of the spring is always soooo good.

I went to the Farmer's Market here today and there was rhubarb! Ta DAH!!! Not that easy to find here, especially the strawberry rhubarb.

Glad you're back. Did you do any knitting in all that free time?

Congrats on the newly hatched chickadees and getting your computer fixed.
Shane is my kind of people, definitely up and above board, honest & prompt. You don't find many of those these days.
Do you need some more rhubarb recipes? I've got some, even a pie recipe with a crust you don't have to roll out. When Steve H stayed here he always wanted to make it with my help, he loved the stuff. We would make 2, 1 for him to take home and 1 for us. As a matter of fact he loved to bake.

Thanks Dawn. From Saturday morning until Monday when I got to work--almost 48 hours without looking at a computer screen, I was starting to get a little shaky!! ;-)

Thanks Mary Lee. I hope you picked up a bunch of that rhubarb for yourself!
I did get some knitting done, also weeding, mending and ironing!

Thanks Mom. I think at least 10 of my rhubarb recipes are from you--the rest are from the PB and others people have given me. I should be set for the rest of the summer!

Ruthie, please stop by to pick up an award I'm passing on to you.

Glad your computer is doing better. I've never made anything with rhubarb, but when I visit my in-laws in Wisconsin in the summer, there is always a delicious rhubarb treat. Have fun watching the chickadee family. :)

Hooray, glad to hear you're cured! Wow, a computer tech who makes house calls, and for less than $100? What a deal. How sweet of you to send him off with some undoubtedly fabulous baked goods, to boot!

How nice to find someone who has such a good work ethic. Glad you're cured and back up running.

What a relief! Ruthie, your enthusiasm is familiar. Having a horrible time with our new laptop two years ago, and having no internet connection in a week was not fun. Then Joe arrived. He took apart my laptop into 1,000 pieces and put it back together. I got a new mother board.

I almost asked for a hug and kiss before be left. LOL! I really wanted to at least hug him.

What? You don't want the rhubard no-roll-out-the-dough pie recipe??? Of COURSE we do...I mean, you do!!!

Thanks Jayne. I asked Shane if it was OK to give him a "shout out" on my blog and he said it was. Hopefully I can send a little business his way from any local blog readers.

Thanks Lisa -- it's good to be back.

Thanks Gaelyn, I'll stop by in a bit.

Thanks Diane. I think rhubarb is an acquired taste and I know several people who really don't care for it (including my spouse!)

Hi Heather,
I was amazed too. Working only part-time I have to watch the budget a little closer and had visions of big $$$, so I was really happy when I only had to part with $$.

Thanks Carolyn. I was very happy to find such a good local business too.

Hi Mary,
I remember your computer problems too. Isn't it nice to know that there are good people like Shane and Joe who can help us with these problems?

Hi Mary Lee,
I'll check my recipe box to see if I've got that one from my mom--otherwise, I'll be seeing her this weekend and I'll ask her to give me a copy I can share.
