Right on Schedule

Here's what I found in the chickadee nestbox this morning at 7:30 -- two newly hatched chicks!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the last 3 eggs will hatch too. We're supposed to have nice, sunny weather for the next 3 days -- just what these little babies will need to get a good start on their life.

I'm going to leave the nest alone now for a few days......

UPDATE - JUNE 16, 2009:
There are 4 baby chickadees in the nest box now (one of the eggs didn't hatch). The parents are busy flying in and out taking care of them.

Probably a good idea to leave the nest alone for a little while now that you know their hatching. Yet sure is cool to see the little things.

You're going to have quite the little nursery going in your yard! That's great. Good luck getting things repaired after your virus hit. Sorry to hear about that.

Aren't they just the size of a speck!

How quickly they will change.

Yay! Chickadees! Oh happy day. Did the other eggs hatch yet? Oh, that's right you said you were going to leave the nest alone for a few days. Well, I hope all is well with parents and babes.

Don't ya just love the sound of babie birds chirping in their nests?

Aw, baby birds are so cute. We have a swallow nest I'm following. I can't see into the nest, but I'll be watching for fledglings.

Good thing their feathers grow in fast... they are ugly! Dedicated parents they have to feed them, lol!
