Almost Done!

With Miss Penny's assistance, I'm making lightning fast progress on the Foliage Hat for auction! This is a fun pattern and I can't recall that I've ever knit a hat from the top down, but it's working out very well. The plan is to get it finished tonight and then wash and block it tomorrow (to get those rumples out). After I post some good photos of the completed hat, bidding will begin on Friday!

If you're new to this blog or just missed the original announcement and wonder what's going on here, please click on this link to find out more about the upcoming auction.

I see you are fortunate enough to have a cat assistant. I find knitting is so much more. . .fun? challenging? rewarding? with a cat at hand. Or at paw.

I've been enjoying your blog, going back and reading about your monarch ranch, we too have a monarch nursery. To date we have 11 babies, 3 that will hatch to butterflies in 10 days or so. I grew up in souther MN, so it's been fun reading all your nature posts. I have given knitting a try but found I don't have the patience for it, I'm a crocheter or watercolor painter. We have 4 cats as you may have guessed from my blog name.

Hi Donna,
Knitting and cats kinda seem to go together, don't they? Penny likes to try and sit on my lap while I knit or if I push her off then she lays on the ball of yarn. Challenging for sure!

Hi Jules,
I'm so glad you're enjoying my blog and left a comment. I didn't post it, but 2 more monarchs (both male) hatched in my ranch Wed. afternoon. I tagged and released them. I have 6 more to go and still see an occasional caterpillar on milkweed in the backyard.
P.S. What are the cats watching so intently in your profile photo??

Has Miss Penny ever batted your ball of yarn around? She looks very interested in this photo.

I think Miss Penney is wishing you would make her a sweater to keep her even warmer in the winter like when the fireplace isn't on. I know she likes it when you make an afghan.

Have fun with the new hat, it looks pretty good already.

Hi Lisa,
Sometimes when I have a few yards of leftover yarn I roll it into a ball and if I don't hide it well enough, Penny's "yarn radar" enables her to find it and sometimes when we wake up in the morning there will be yarn unwound all over the living and dining rooms!

Hi Mom,
I need to knit Sophie a sweater too. Penny and Sophie are already wanting to sleep under the covers at night now that it's gotten cooler.
